Nuance Communications Inc. Follow this company (Nasdaq: NUAN), which had nearly $900 million in gross debt at the end of March, said it is working to extend the maturity of term loans that come due in 2013.
Burlington, Mass.-based Nuance said Tuesday in a U.S. regulatory filing it expects to complete the amend-and-extend transaction in July. The provider of voice and language software said it is in compliance with loan covenants.
In its most recent quarterly financial report, Nuance reported that $630.2 million of its term loan obligations will come due in 2013. Any extension likely would give the company more breathing room. Other obligations include $250 million in convertible bonds, whose redemption can trigger cash payments from the company.
Meanwhile, Nuance?s cash position has improved over the past year. At the end of March, the company reported holding $642 million in cash and cash equivalents. That was up from $462 million in the year-ago period.
