Joe Alfieri and Chase Seiffert are tied for the lead heading into the final round of play in the 95th Florida State Amateur Championship at The Bear?s Club in Jupiter. The tournament concludes with the final round on Sunday.
Cape Coral?s Chase Marinell is in fourth at 219, five behind Alfieri and Seiffert. Marinell had a 74 in the third round. Fort Myers? Jack Hernandez, who plays for Florida Gulf Coast University, struggled to an 83 and is tied for 34th at 232.
On Saturday, Alfieri got off to a hot start turning in 1-under-par 35, but stumbled down the stretch closing with a 3-over-par 39 for his round of 74. Seiffert birdied Nos. 3 and 4, but then found trouble on No. 6, making a triple bogey to turn at 1 over. He made three birdies and three bogeys on the back nine.
Brant Peaper of Tequesta is in third place after rounds of 75-70-71, for a tournament total of even par 216 through 54-holes of play.
